The Cork Center Laboratory, the laboratory of the Catalan Institute of Cork was created in 2001 to provide services to the different components of the value chain, both in the cork sector and in the wine sector.
In this sense, the experience acquired over the years and the incorporation of high-level technical equipment have allowed the Cork Center Laboratory to become an international benchmark in the provision of services to the cork and wine industry, which seeks promote the quality and competitiveness of companies in these sectors.
The Cork Center Laboratory participates in technical committees both nationally and internationally related to the sector and in the organization of congresses, seminars and days for the promotion of cork.
The services offered by the laboratory go through quality controls (sensory analysis, gas chromatography, microbiology and designs of internal protocols, among others); analysis of the composition of samples; expertise in litigation; validation of technical innovations introduced by the industry, advice and training.
The Cork Center is an ENAC accredited testing laboratory with accreditation No. 1258 / LE2382 in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard and is currently the first laboratory to offer the accredited global migration test for cork stoppers.
The Cork Center also has accreditation with number 675 and recognition with number 676 in the Register of agri-food laboratories in Catalonia (DOGC No. 5433 -31/07/2009).
